foundation
canvas, acrylic
partially dried acrylic paint from college times; a display of what's carried from formative years, informing the base of the future. texture rises from below & helps to shape what's built on top. white is present in multiple panels to capture the potential for future formations & a seemingly fresh movement into "adulthood."

canvas, acrylic, phone book papier-mâché
built & added to over multiple years across two residences. a staged progression of processing a traumatic experience within one of the residences that tarnished unmet people to me, represented by the phonebook pages being blocked by a black mass (left). while covering the bias/black mass to see people in a positive light again, the event is still remembered, yet the struggle to not see all people as having the same intention still remains (right).

subsequence sequence
canvas, acrylic, mirror pieces
a manifestation of a previous relationship. seemingly pure passion & "love" quickly transitions to a darker and quickly spreading hidden intention that quickly gets out of control. learnings to carry on later, represented by mirror pieces, are hidden only within the darker mass & are only seen once any lingering malice is no longer present. while this is my perspective, there's something to be said of the mirror pieces being sharp - it's questionable if the other party in the relationship learned anything (a narcissist) as they may see learnings as something they'd be harmed by if they get too close (a mirror to see themselves, which is sharp when broken).
